Lisa Bastian CBC established Bastian Public Relations in 1986 in her hometown of Cincinnati. Since 2001 she has served the communication needs of organizations nationwide from sunny San Antonio. For third consecutive year, San Antonio Business Journal names Bastian Public Relations as one of the “Largest San Antonio Public Relations Firms” in its 2012 “Book of Lists.” January

Bastian rejoins  American Mensa and joins 500-member South Texas Mensa. She is a former parent-participant, board member and PR Chair (7 years) of The Super Saturday Program, Cincinnati’s unique parent-run gifted child program supporting the intellectual/social needs of hundreds of youngsters aged 4-14 through fun Saturday enrichment classes.  January

Bastian hired to conduct over 20 video interviews with speakers, delegates attending “The Consultants Forum” Dec. 4-6 at Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, TX. This economic development conference (limited to 100+ people) is attended by some of the nation’s leading names in global site consulting, corporate real estate and economic development strategy.

Bastian hired by EDsuite to edit/write content for revamped website of Lindale Economic Development Corporation representing the booming East Texas community of Lindale. EDsuite is an accomplished software and website development company based in Kilgore, TX, with clients nationwide.  Late2011-early 2012.

Bastian completes work on site map and content for new website of Solera (old site showing now). This global automotive software/services holding company operates 10 businesses in more than 52 countries across 6 continets, and expects to post estimated 2012 revenues of at least $822 million. Estimated launch date: winter 2011.

Bastian coordinates production of new website for The Alexander House; e.g., new template, new webmaster, new (and edited) copy and photos. Fall 2011.

Bastian completely produces first professional-grade newsletter for The Alexander House, a 12-year-old national Catholic marriage apostolate based in San Antonio. Fall 2011, 12 pages.

Bastian writes Oct.-Dec. 2011 membership newsletter for National Lawyers Association. 12 pages.

Bastian wins Gold Award in Hermes Creative Awards 2011 competition; an international contest for creative professionals working in traditional and emerging media. Winning entry: “One Less ‘Yes’ for Gardasil” investigative story about dangers of the Gardasil STD (sexually transmitted disease) vaccine; published Nov. 2009 in American Life League’s Celebrate Life national magazine. May

Bastian completes contract assignment as Directory Coordinator for Archdiocese of San Antonio. Worked with Today’s Catholic newspaper team to research/desktop publish diocese’s 300-page 2011 Official Catholic Directory.  (Held same position in 2010.)  April

IABC/San Antonio board members Bastian and Joe Grey were once again Award Co-Chairs working for months with talented board members on 2011 Bronze Quill communications program. Honored 2010 work produced by region’s top communicators with May 24th awards banquet. Jan.-May

Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce begins distributing copies of its 2011 Relocation Guide to 10,000 relocating families, businesses and community partners. Organization hired Bastian to write its flagship publication (a 102-page, full-color magazine) in Fall 2010.  April

She also creates, publicizes Atlanta-based company’s first press release about online sweepstakes celebrating 15th anniversary of creation of groundbreaking Complete Thymic Formula product. March

Bastian creates publicity materials for long-time client: luxury brand Xezo.com, Houston-based designer of European hand-crafted timepieces, writing instruments, eyewear and leather goods made in limited editions with specialty and rare materials (mother of pearl, titanium, etc.).

Bastian helps Alpha-Quadrant Inc. of San Antonio (an accomplished accounting and business development consulting firm) replace its website with a dynamic new WordPress template, and with some content “tweaking” as well. Marchecialty materials (e.g., precious metals, mother of pearl). March

Bastian establishes Twitter account for proposed new Holy Shroud Center of San Antonio associated with The Pilgrim Center of Hope. Tweets as @HolyShroudTX. January

Bastian joins new volunteer group formed to create future facility: The Holy Shroud Center of Texas. Organizers envision this educational and devotional center will feature multi-media presentations about the Shroud and museum-quality displays, including a life-size replica of the Shroud, holograms, and much more. January

Bastian earns Brainbench.com certification in Website Design Concepts. She previously earned these certifications from same company: Business Writing (top 5% of test takers), Written English Professional, Public Relations Professional, and Editing & Proofing Specialist (Chicago). January.

Bastian invited to participate in March press tour of San Antonio, TX, with other regional, national journalists. January

 

Pro-Life Media & Communications Linkedin group, established by Bastian in April 2009, now has 225+ members.  Membership includes leading pro-life and pro-family advocates from nationally known organizations; members from three continents. January

BlueSky Publications of Boerne, TX, hires Bastian as Managing Editor of Country Lifestyle, the region’s original luxury lifestyle magazine about the people, places and events of beautiful Texas Hill Country. December

Bastian writes investigative “One Less ‘Yes’ for Gardasil” story about dangers of Gardasil vaccine for American Life League’s Celebrate Life national magazine. Picked up by numerous organizations and bloggers; helps raise awareness of topic in U.S. and abroad thanks to interviews with vaccine journalist-researchers.  Published November.

Bastian selected as contract Directory Coordinator by Archdiocese of San Antonio to research and desktop publish the 2010 Archdiocean Directory.Bastian attends day-long TweetCamp un-conference about everything “Twitter” with 100+ marketing/social media peerps.  Participates in panel discussion on how businesses can effectively use Twitter for marketing and sales. Bastian establishes new Pro-Life Media & Communications linkedin group for pro-life creatives;. Australian pro-life leader Andrew Smith (“Cherish Life” organization) enlisted as group’s co-manager and Bastian’s sidekick. April.

As guest of Missouri’s economic development agency, Bastian goes on press trip to various cities in Missouri; focus is on key business clusters and biotechnology. Takes thrilling ride in pace car during last race of Tour of Missouri, third-highest-profile bicycle race in the United States (covered by worldwide media).Bastian hired by another PR agency to co-present multiple customer service training seminars for all San Antonio credit union’s managers and front-line employees.

Bastian flies to Denver, CO, to attend Southern Region IABC Silver Quill Awards banquet and accept two Silver Quill awards won for a magazine feature article and website content work. October

Bastian flies to Northern France to participate in press trip about numerous logistics assets of Northern France’s Lille Region.  Event attended by five business journalists writing for national U.S. and European magazines; sponsored by French Government agency responsible for fostering foreign investment.  June 30-July 2.

Bastian completes second term as President of IABC/San Antonio chapter.According to IABC headquarters data, in 2008 the chapter ranked #13 worldwide among 100+ chapters in membership growth (29%.), and #4 worldwide in retention (96% retained). June

Bastian wins three IABC/San Antonio Bronze Quill Awards for a client’s website content and overall functionality design, and a magazine feature story about Texas pandemic planning for Business SouthTexas magazine. May

BPR chosen by Alameda Museum (Smithsonian affiliate in San Antonio) to translate and transculturate museum-supplied content from Spanish into English for 13 information wall panels associated with theMyth, Mortals and Immortality: Works From Museo Soumaya de Mexico” exhibit on display at museum. This workd-famous 100-piece exhibit showcased Mexican art from the 16th to the 21st century. Bastian organized, led virtual agency translation team to complete project. As chapter President, Bastian directs efforts of IABC/San Antonio board members in hosting prestigious annual IABC global leadership conference; this time held in San Antonio. Over 220 IABC business communicators from four continents attend multi-day leadership and chapter development event; it garnered rave reviews for its execution and overall hospitality. February

Bastian named Editor/Writer of Business SouthTexas. This monthly magazine is the voice for the business community in the 38-county region of South Texas including San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Brownsville, Harlingen, McAllen, Laredo, Eagle Pass and Del Rio. It’s distributed throughout South Texas and in Austin, as well as in Mexico, Canada and Washington, DC.  Distribution: 20,000. Manage writers, wrote cover stories, help redesign publication.  (Print publications folds same year)

Bastian wins Southern Region IABC Silver Quill Award of Merit for “Location California” national business magazine article about California’s key industries. Entries from 14 states.

Bastian wins three IABC/San Antonio Bronze Quill Awards for three magazine articles: two personality profiles and a story about California’s key industries. May

Bastian wins national Apex Award of Excellence in interviews/profiles category for magazine article “Tom Cusick: Boerne’s Famous Cowboy Entrepreneur” published in Country Lifestyle, the original Texas Hill Country “luxury lifestyle” magazine.

Bastian creates IABC entry on Wikipedia after noticing this global group for business communicators is absent from website; informs IABC headquarters staff, which then takes over and provides offical details.

Bastian wins two Proliner Awards of Excellence from Women in Communications/San Antonio chapter for regional and national magazine articles.

Bastian writes nomination package directly responsible for staffing client winning “Latina Business Excellence Award” from Compass Bank (presented in partnership with the Institute for Economic Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Telemundo).
