TASKS
After the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce identified Bastian as one of the top business writers in Cincinnati, she was hired to co-author Cincinnati: City of Charm. The meat of the 350-page, full-color “coffee table” book is the section featuring 100 company profiles, 500 to 1,000 words in length, about the city’s most high-profile organizations.
The project originally was presented to Bastian as an 18-month project, but then was shortened to a mere eight months. The original number of profiles was to be 50, but the final number was actually 100. To keep the project on schedule, Bastian hired another writer. Both Lisa and her co-author wrote 50 well-researched pieces requiring full in-person interviews with C-suite execs. Moreover, the client hired national newscaster/writer Nick Clooney (a local celebrity and father of actor George Clooney) to write the opening “love story” about Cincinnati, told in text and photos.
The book’s production process was managed by Towery Publishing. After publication, all of the 10,000 copies of the four-pound book sold out quickly as it was a big hit with residents and business leaders. It also served as a classy economic development "calling card" to draw new businesses to the region.
